In Heather's role as a wedding officiant (www.SimpleCeremonies.com) she has participated in literally hundreds of weddings over the past several years. Here are some of her favorite things.
Use a blanket of flower petals instead of an aisle runner. Have flower girls sprinkle a contrasting color of petals.
Have individual wedding cakes on each table as the centerpiece.
Pull young ring bearers and flower girls in a decorated wagon. This will help even the youngest shy little ones make it down the aisle.
If you want a casual atmosphere instruct your guest to wear denim and any kind of white shirt. They will truly be relaxed and your photos will be very unique.
Photo stamps are a fun new trend. They cost a little more than regular postage but add a personalized touch to your invitations.
If you are blending families include vows to your children after you make your promises to each other. Follow the vows with the signing of a family certificate or a family unity ceremony.
Have sugar cookies made in fun shapes that are meaningful to you. Wrap them in a cellophane bag with ribbon and give them to your guests, along with matching cookie cutters, as favors.
Use a piece of your grandmother's china somewhere on wedding parties table. Or maybe an heirloom sugar bowl and creamer on the buffet table.
Immediately after the ceremony have someone serve cool drinks. This is especially important if you will need time to finish up with your photographer.
Finish up with flair! At the end of your celebration, ride off into the sunset in style. Whether you leave in your own vehicle or a limousine, make your exit special. Pass out bubbles or sparklers, gather your guests around, turn the music up, toss your bouquet and ride off into your future!
